Increase of energy efficiency by utilization of residual stress in electrical steel

In october 2017 the DFG-Priority Programme “The utilization of residual stresses induced by metal forming” starts. In this programme the scientific groundwork for the utilization of residual stress induced by deformations in metallic components is studied. Main targets are the detection of residual stress, the improvement of properties and the processing. The project is in collaboration with the utg of TU Munich and the neutron source Heinz-Maier-Leibnitz. In order to enable a diversion of the magnetic flux without mechanical material weakening by geometric cuts, a local surface deformation by stamping is studied.
