The influence of different soft magnetic material will be examined in case of two different medium frequency transformers. The first transformer will be made of grain oriented electrical steel, which is the most common material for power transformers. The second transformer will consist of a nanocrystalline core. Both transformers will have the same apparent power of 200 kVA. The frequency range is chosen to medium freuquency to reduce the size and cost. A comparision will be made to examine the advantages and disadvantages of each material in this frequency range. The economical solution will be determined by measurements.
