Grain-oriented electrical steel is an important component in the development and production of energy-efficient transformers. The magnetization process and the associated iron losses are influenced by a variety of heterogeneous factors. The developed dynamic magnetization and loss model allows an illustration of these processes based on material-specific parameters. In this way, the individual loss mechanisms can be quantified and boundaries as well as optima for the use of a specific material can be identified.
