This year's DRIVE-E-Akademie took place from 09.-14. September 2018 in Munich. It provided students with insights into the diversity of electromobility. As part of the event, the winners of the DRIVE-E Study Award were announced.

The award ceremony is part of an annual summer academy, which brings 50 selected students from all over Germany closer to the theory and practice of electromobility in a week with lectures and excursions.

A growing number of young scientists are enthusiastically dedicated to this topic. Five of them have now been awarded the DRIVE-E Study Award for their student work by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

Martin Gerlach was awarded second place in the master's thesis category at this year's Drive-E-Studienpreis with his master's thesis written at the Institute of Electrical Machines. His work dealt with the influence of manufacturing tolerances in the assembly of electric motors to optimize future manufacturing processes.
