Modeling of polymer jet deposition of a melt electrospinning process for nano fibrous web production
Melt electrospinning is an inovative process to spin nano jets directly from a polymer melt. The melt-spun fibrous web features structures below one micrometer and can be used for particle filters in medicine and automotive applications. In the scope of a project funded by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen Otto von Guericke, models of the polymer jet and its deposition have been developed and implemented. The underlying simulation principle is that of the electrostatic field. Jet deposition propabilities of the deposition area are illustrated by color. An graphical interface controls the simulation tool.
