The measurement of miniaturised drives holds many metrological challenges due to their high rotational speeds at low torque. In order to meet these challenges, a test bench has been designed and built, which allows simultaneous measurement of force and torque in every spatial direction, ensuring a range of precision of a hundredth newton and tenth millinewton meter. Thereby, measuring range reaches a maximum torque of 50mNm at a speed limit of 10, 000/min. The heart of the test bench is a sensor the stator of the device under test is fixed to. Thus, force and torque are measured directly without losses. The sensor is mounted to a positioning system, enabling translational and angular adjustments between stator and rotor in every direction.
