Test Bench Implementation of Different Control Strategies for Induction Machines

An induction machine test bench is developed in this work and will be used by undergraduate students as a demonstrator and during electrical engineering laboratories. During the development of this test bench a particular attention is placed on the practical relevance of the setup. Therefore, industrial servo drives with a power of 10–11 kW, as well as a Rapid Control Prototyping unit are used. This test bench enables students to familiarize themselves with control strategies that are largely used in the industry, like the V/f drive strategy with torque compensation and the flux oriented control strategy. Through the comparison of measurement results students are shown that the flux oriented control strategy is superior to the V/f drive strategy in terms of speed and precision, but has the disadvantage of a far more intensive controller design.
