In order to evaluate the acoustic attributes of an induction machine, a numerical modal analysis has been performed. A numerical model of the stator was built and the eigenfrequencies have been determined. The model has been parameterized by comparing the numerical frequencies to those determined in an experimental modal analysis. For the evaluation of the machine during operation, the analytically calculated excitations have been imprinted on the inner stator surface. This allowed the calculation of transfer functions, which gave conclusions about the acoustic behavior of the machine and about excitations to avoid.
