Uncertainty propagation of production-faults in electrical machines
Due to the progress taking place in the exactness of computation in terms of current electromagnetic software packages, an examination of uncertainties is indispensable for achieving an advance in the development process concerning electrical machines. In course of the DFG supported project ’propagation of uncertainties across electromagnetic models’, possibilities for the simulation of stochastically varying parameters and their influence on the electrical machine have been investigated. By inserting a meta-modelling technique it is now possible to evaluate variations in geometry and material of single components and predict concise propositions about the machine’s characteristics. Finally, this methodology enables an enduring improvement of the electrical machine’s performance with the aid of paradigms like ’robust design’ or ’tolerance allocation’.
