Improved Numerical Modeling and Characterization of Ferromagnetic Materials and their Losses
The accurate estimation of iron losses has become a prominent problem in electromagnetic design. Iron losses are calculated nowadays after considerable simplification. Ferromagnetic materials are assumed non-conductive and nondissipative for the field computation, which represents a twist in the modeling. This DFG-funded project aims at filling this gap. It is intended to establish a scientific background for the analysis of iron losses in applications involving laminated ferromagnetic cores, providing designers with modeling tools to evaluate design measures for loss reduction and optimum material choice. The intended semi-physical material model simultaneously considers vector hysteresis, the laminated structure and the issue of parameter identification.
