Measuring Quality in the Characterization of Soft Magnetic Materials
State of the art for the characterisation of soft magnetic material are the three gauges Epstein, single sheet tester and toroidal tester. The aim of the characterization is an accurate and reproducible determination of the magnetic material properties. The fundamental frequencies and polarisations which occur during operation of a heavily loaded machine exceed the range of the specified standard measurements considerably. Consequently the question of the comparability and reproducibility of the measurement results raises for material characterisations outside the norm. Therefore, with reference to the respective measuring chain the essential factors influencing the measuring results are identified and their error propagation is evaluated.
