Stator end-winding forces in electrical machines

In this research work an analytical procedure for the calculation of deformations in machine end-windings caused by electromechanical forces is developed. The forces are approximated with a line-conductor model based on Biot- Savart’s law and the Lorentz-Force. In order to take non-sinusoidal current shapes into account a model based on the superposition of unit-forces is developed. The analysis of material stresses is based on the determination of a transfer function which describes the deformation caused by each force mode. To derive the transfer functions the forces calculated in the model and measured accelerations are utilized.
