Influence of mechanical stresses on the magnetic properties of electrical steel sheet
Different mechanical stresses affect the electrical steel sheets in electrical machines. For example, centrifugal forces on the rotor of high-speed electrical machines or the manufacturing process of electrical sheets take effect on the magnetic properties. Mechanical stresses change the properties like remanence flux density or coercive field strength and influence the efficiency of the machine and the magnetic flux path in the stator and rotor. A single sheet tester measures the magnetic properties of electrical steel sheets which are loaded by tensile and compressive stresses. The results are integrated in the FEM calculation and allow a more exact simulation of the flux distribution with additional influence of the mechanical stresses.
