KERME: Scalable and modular drive train for electric vehicles

The project KERME, promoted by BMWi, is a collaboration between several institutes of RWTH Aachen University and industrial partners to develop and construct an electrical drive for electric vehicles. To penetrate the market successfully, cost reduction ranks first. In order to achieve this purpose, scale effects are applied while the electric motor is constructed economic and resourceefficient. Major focus is a motor dimensioning according to the driving cycle that requires a minimum amount of cost-intensive permanent magnet pieces. After development and construction the motor will be tested in the Street Scooter platform.
