In this research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology with the reference number 01MY12006A, a development methodology for electrical machines is worked out. The simulation methods of different disciplines will be coupled together. The goal is to improve the design of electrical machines particularly with regard to the requirements of automobiles. One focus is the thermal system: The local differences in temperature and the efficiency can be taken into account to open up new potential. The electric machines have to be improved in terms of their overload capacity in dynamic load spectra. At the same time, the specific power has to be increased by enhancing the utilization of the machine. The solutions will be designed taking into account the module concept that allows scalability of the machine and transferability to „similar“ machines. To validate the simulation and to demonstrate the new knowledge a prototype is built.
