In cooperation with Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Robert Bosch GmbH and further research facilities, key technologies for the next generation of electric vehicles are investigated. The project e-generation is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with reference number 13N11867. The main objectives are to reduce the energy demand to increase the driving range by 38 % with a significant reduction of the costs compared to previous full electric vehicles. At the IEM, one essential aim is to study electrical machines with significant higher speeds compared to previous electric traction drives. Therefore, an extension of existing models to estimate iron losses to the desired frequencies is necessary. Within this project, several demonstrator cars will be build up. Their front axles will be powered by machines designed at the IEM.
